There was an abundance of food available in the buffet table, and then there were fun games where everybody joined.

This year's party was somewhat different because some of the UPEPO alumni joined us. The gathering of the alumni is in preparation for next year's 20th anniversary of UPEPO.
Wall clocks will be procured by the council and will be installed in the library, the faculty, and in every class room. The students, by simply turning their heads towards the clock, will now have an easier time indicating to their professors that class is over. :)
Do you know that the Management Personalities web page is the most visited page in this site? That page had hundreds of hits for the month of November alone and more than 80% of the visitors are from overseas. Because of this development, a list of books relevant to the personalities listed were added to the page. Hopefully, some of the visitors will actually go and buy books from Amazon where we get a small referral fee.
The student council had three banners made for the University of the Philippines symposium held at the SBMA JEST camp earlier this month. We'd like to thank Ante Santos and Jon Cruz of SBMA engineering for putting up the banners in strategic locations.
A PC to TV converter was already ordered and should be delivered and installed before the start of the 2nd semester. What this will do is provide students the capability to create PowerPoint presentations for their reports; load the file in the PC that is available in the faculty room; then output the slides into the wide-screen TV, also available in the faculty room, for everyone in the class to see.
[Nov 3] Hit a snag in this project. The PC to TV converter that was delivered uses AGP connection. Unfortunately, the motherboard of our PC only has PCI connections; further, no PCI converter is available. An option is to replace the motherboard with a newer that has AGP video connection. The council is now looking for a source of funding.
Minor repairs of the building roof will be done. This will just include sealing of holes near the eaves as the Council cannot afford major repairs and repainting at this time.
Due to poor connectivity in GoDaddy.com, UPEPO-SC's former web host, the site was transferred to Yahoo.com. The monthly fee is higher but the service seemed better. If you will still encounter connection problems, please let the council know.
We are now an Amazon.com Associate. What this means is we can create links from this website to Amazon.com where, for every book eventually purchased, we will be paid a small fee if the buyer originated from our website.
Various Amazon links are now existing in our Library page. If you are looking for books that you cannot find here, why don't you try searching for it at Amazon. Watch out for shipping and handling fees, however, especially for items you want delivered in 2-4 days. Longer delivery times will have smaller S&H. The more books or items ordered at the same time, on the other hand, the lower the S&H becomes.
A donation box is now in the library. The funds collected through this will be used to buy more books. Anything you
can drop in will be appreciated. The library also will now be strict in collecting penalty fees for late return of
borrowed books to add to the fund. This donation box is courtesy of Ken Rementilla... read more

A large UPEPO sign was painted at the side of our building (facing the SBMA gate). This should provide more exposure for our school. Funds used were from a personal donation.
The Council intends to provide some kind of a reviewer for future Comprehensive Exam takers. This is a huge undertaking so we are dividing this work into several phases. The first phase is to provide information regarding management personalities. As you are well aware of, research papers, case studies, exams, etc. cannot be purely opinionated. Many of what we have learned and will be learning are original ideas of somebody else. We must give credit where credit is due. Click here to check it out now.

The facade of the UPEPO building previously looked bare. Trash tends to accumulate also especially whenever there are sporting events held in the common grounds since students (from other schools) are inclined to make do of the shade provided by our building's overhangs. More than 40 bougainvillea were planted along the length of the building. The funds used for this project, including the procurement of some garden implements, were from a personal donation.
The plants are just starting to grow now but we expect beautiful flowers from these plants soon.

Jam4Peace — a rock concert with performances by River Maya, Parokya Ni Edgar, Moonstar 88, Kamikaze, Cheese, 6CycleMind, and The Youth. If you don't know these bands, you are probably too old for their music. It was held on the Easter of 2003, Black Saturday, to be specific, at Remy Field, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
The concert was sponsored by Smart, San Miguel, PLDT, SBMA, and UPEPO.
UPEPO, you say! That's right! But although sponsorship for this kind of concert range to about P250,000, UPEPO's contribution is mostly lip-service plus a lot of effort. Rhey Garcia, our council PRO, lead the coordination efforts to stage this event. Thanks to Chairman Felicito Payumo, who was all out in his support. We also made a formal letter to Mayor Kate Gordon, requesting that we be allowed to hang banners in strategic places in the city, to put up posters near basketball courts in barangays, and to have the local traffic enforcers escort the motorcade, which were all approved.
The Council's purpose for sponsoring this event is to make UPEPO be more known in the Metro Subic area and, hopefully,
increase the student population. Para mas masaya. For the short term, we simply wanted to buy more books for
the library using our share of the proceeds from the concert. (We're waiting for it Rhey :)
SY 2003-2004 is a landmark year for UPEPO Student Council elections. This year, the elections will be guided, for the first time, with a set of election rules - the UPEPO Student Election Code. This Code had been long overdue but because it is difficult and time consuming to develop... read more
You are looking at it. Well? Let me know what you think.
For techies out there and are curious to know, I used Macromedia's Dreamweaver to lay out the pages, Macromedia's Fireworks and Adobe's Photoshop to do the graphics, and Multi-Edit for down and dirty coding.
General appearance? I basically want clean lines, not too cluttered, not too colorful but using a monochromatic scheme.
Finally, functionality and content were given much higher priority than grandiosity. Comments and suggestions are
welcome.
One of the basketball goals of ApTech used to be situated very close to the front of the UPEPO building. This is causing a lot of damaged windows from balls accidentally flying to the glass panes; not to mention the noise created by the games during our classes. The Council and the UPEPO administration coordinated with ApTech and was able to come up with a solution. Although it took many months before this was done (the goals were permanently fixed to the ground), you will see the basketball court to be further from our building starting SY 2003-2004.
Hands down the most difficult project that we did. Started in September 2002, it took many meetings involving every Council member; was finally completed early December, and overwhelmingly ratified in a school-wide plebiscite on December 14, 2002... read more
One of the most attended Christmas Party at UPEPO. How? Well, we simply strong-armed every student to attend :) It was a fun event, held at Work Zone, and attended by the majority of the faculty. Food, drinks, games — what else can you ask for? Just look at these pictures...

This was the very first request (on the day of the election) made by the administration. The UPEPO signage at the entrance of the building was dilapidated and barely readable. A painter and a couple of assistants were immediately contracted to redo the signage. The next day, Sunday, workers were already scraping the worn-out paints. Painting was completed Monday. Funds used were from a personal donation.
