ARCHIVECongratulations, 2004 Graduates!by Danny J. PianoHappy, excited, relieved... whatever it is, graduating is always an awesome feeling — I know, I am one of the graduates. Completing a master's course in one of the nation's premier universities, the University of the Philippines, makes it even more so. Graduating in UP-EPO was not an easy task. We sometimes have to put on hold our jobs or even our families to complete the requirements; this can only be attributed to a very strong commitment to learn and succeed. We have spent so much time and energy trying to expand our knowledge — as broadly and deeply, or as narrowly and precisely — to get here. Now, we have fulfilled an investment that we have started years before. As we leave UP-EPO and forge ahead on our individual journeys, we should not forget to look back. Behind are other students who may need assistance, a piece of advice, or encouragement; and a school which will surely appreciate contributions that you can provide to improve its facilities. We are now all, not only UP-EPO alumni, but members of the UP-wide UPAA as well. With this comes the responsibility to improve the lives of other people in our communities. Let us take cues from the countless UP alumni who made their mark by unselfishly devoting their time helping promote the welfare of others, especially the less fortunate. Let us do what's right, not only when it's right. Let us move on, but move on well. Congratulations!
