UPEPO Alumni General Assembly & Election of Officers

Calling all UPEPO alumni! There will be a general assembly on November 27, 2004, 5:00 PM at the newly inaugurated UPEPO Seminar Room. This will be in preparation for the UPEPO 20th anniversary celebration to be held this coming December. Agenda will include the following:

1. discussion of alumni officers composition;
2. election of officers;
3. forming of committees; and
4. discussion of 20th anniversary preparations.

Election of Officers

In the absence of the UPEPO Alumni Constitution and Election Code, I am suggesting that we follow the usual composition of officers based from other UP alumni organizations. We can develop our own later. The board of directors will be composed of 10 alumni who will be elected by the assembly. Out of this, four will be taking executive committee positions. The positions are as listed below:

1. President & Chairman of the Board
2. Vice-President
3. Secretary
4. Treasurer
5. Board Members (6)

The above is just a suggestion to start the ball rolling. This will have to be discussed during the meeting and whatever we will come up with will need to be ratified through a show of hands by a simple majority before finalized. In case a small number of alumni shows up during the meeting, the majority present may decide to make the positions interim in nature.

The composition is, however, standard so I would think that it's not going to hurt if we start submitting nominations now. You can send the names and positions of your nominees to me (0918-900-9839 or email) or to Connie Jimenez (0921-601-4929). I will start posting them here starting next week.

Anniversary Discussions

Just so we can start brewing ideas in our heads, please start thinking or start discussing with the other alumni the following:

1. Place and date of celebration. It is suggested that we do this at the same time as the UPEPO Christmas Party but just about any other suggestion is welcome.
2. Attendance fee
3. Programs to include
4. Committees to form. Elected board members will be tasked to head the committees.

That's about it. Please start contacting other alumni and ask them to attend the meeting. This isn't as easy as it seems; last year I sent more than one hundred registered mails to the UPEPO alumni requesting them to attend the Christmas Party – only 14 came.

It's hard to say that we are masters of management graduates or alumni of UP if we cannot even mange our own backyard and show a united front. This time, let us try to put our texting skills to good use; contact everybody you know and please make sure to get a commitment from each one.

This is the very first anniversary celebration of UPEPO so let's try to make this work!
