ARCHIVEWelcome, Freshmen!by the SC PresidentThe Student Council is pleased to welcome you to the University of the Philippines Extension Program in Olongapo! We are delighted that you have chosen UPEPO for your post-graduate education. No, let me re-phrase that — you must be delighted to have been accepted in UPEPO! Is that more like it? Let me assure you, however, that you were not admitted here by mistake. You are here because you have the intellectual capacity to make it through. Now, you only have to prove it. You will discover pretty soon that the academic requirements at UPEPO are very rigorous. Although classes are only once a week, you will find that you are working your butts off many days in between. It is an energy zapper, a time shrinker, and a love-life killer, too. That's unfair, you say! Yes, it is. But it's worth it. Always remember, there is always an opportunity to make progress despite the odds and adversity; and that failing, is simply a part of moving forward. You will meet people who are mostly supervisors, managers, political leaders of different leanings, private entrepreneurs, new grads who were at the top of their classes, and others who are the best in their fields. It will be difficult to compete with these guys. But you don't have to. We can, on the other hand, complement each other. Men and women, together, create a more balanced and meaningful view. Even with our varied backgrounds, we can come together and pursue our common goals of learning, discovering, and creating. Okay, enough chatter, just do your best and hope for the best. And when you are really down on your luck, the Student Council may just be able to help. Good luck! |
